Leisure and Travel Blog Blue Sky smiling at me It was a great lunch in downtown Augusta, Georgia today at Blue Sky Kitchen. Located at the corner of 10th and Broad, it is a great location just two blocks from the Savannah River. Today, I tried the Mojo Shrimp and Rice. Served with a little bit of asparagus and black beans, it was the perfect portion for lunch. They do have seating outside, but I dined inside and enjoyed the local art. The restaurant is locally owned and really gives a flavor and a feel you won’t get anywhere but Augusta. Another one of my favorites is the Redneck Stir-fry. Awesome. It includes rice, corn, butter bean, tomatoes and your choice of protein. It is fine without anything added, but I like to add the tilapia when I get it. But be hungry, it will fill you up. They even have a kids menu and highchairs, if you want to bring the family. No family with me today and was back to work in 45 minutes. 990 Broad Street Augusta, Ga 30901 706-821-3988 Author: admin Comments

I typically don't visit Blue Sky Kitchen for food, but for drinks. This cool spot sits on the corner of Broad Street and is rather poppin' on Monday nights. My last visit was cool. The bartender, Shannon is great. She is very knowledgeable. On Mondays they have a DJ and drink specials. Now for the food. Blue Sky Kitchen has a full menu. I haven't tried much, but some fries. You can't go wrong there, but many of the customers around me order food and they enjoy it. I like this place. It's never too crowded. It has wi-fi and plenty of seating. Oh and did I mention it has a pool table too. Main attraction, it's smoke free!

So we popped into Blue Sky a couple weeks back, to grab a quick bite and drinks. As you walk in you think, gee, I know this kind of place. Quasi-dive bar, pool tables, some booths, bar seating, so all that = basic bar food. Well, yes and no, the menu items are what one would see on a typical bar menu, but there's something in each one that steps it up a notch. Then you keep checking out the menu and there's quite a few things that sound downright unique and not bar-food-y at all. Since we were just getting some snacks, we got the spicy fried pickle spears (yes! I said spears!) and the chicken & spinach egg rolls. Both came out super hot and fresh (so burn that tongue Yelps) and both were actually quite delicious! Now there's far too few places that fry up an entire pickle spear, so I was already super excited to try them. The batter was crispy and a bit spicy and they were a total hit. I was most surprised by the egg rolls, since the flavor inside those little wraps was on point. Also a teence spicy, but not too crazy. I wish I would've tried more, but I know I'll be back again and am looking forward to checking out some of their other menu items. The cocktails and bartenders were also excellent and the prices were just amazing. (Oh sigh, if only I could get those prices in South Florida) But overall a super chill spot. I hear it gets pretty crowded on weekends, but this weeknight visit was pretty laid back.
