Yesterday I was trying to say in Spanish, “The check is on the kitchen counter.” and I realized that I didn't know the word for counter. Neither does the on-line dictionary which gives some definitions for counter, but not kitchen counter. I don't know why I can't remember this word from my time in Spain. On the other hand, I can't quite remember the word for “kitchen cabinet” either. I don't think that “gabinete” is quite the translaton for the installed kitchen fixtures on the walls above the counter. Thanks for your help. mardiz, Feb 26, 2007 #1

I am also looking for a Spanish term for kitchen counter. None of the above sound familiar to me. I'm from northern Mexico. I remember the word “pretil” for the dishwashing area, but doesn't work either. Please, help. Last edited by a moderator: Oct 15, 2014 Pimeria Alta, Mar 4, 2008 #6
